Flying Start @ Helston Get Their Bluebells Ready for Flora Day!

Pre School Decorating The Fence For Flora Day PreSchool Learning About Flora Day

Flying Start @ Helston recently celebrated Flora Day with their local town, parents, staff and friends of the nursery!

Just before Flora Day the children explored bluebells, the traditional flower that the children wear if they are dancing in the formal Flora dance, and that is used to decorate houses and shops throughout the town!

The children made small bunches of the pretty flowers and decorated the nursery.

On Flora Day, Lucy their manager danced the Flora Dance! The children were all very excited for her!

What a lovely community event bringing children, grown ups and all of the local Helston community together!

Flying Start @ Penryn Celebrate Flora’s 21st Birthday!

Flying Start @ Penryn celebrate Flora’s 21st Birthday with partnership in the local community and a tea party for children, staff and parents.

The children had a wonderful morning with a whole nursery outing to Raze The Roof in Penryn , a local soft play zone that the nursery have now had partnerships with for the past two years. Staff, parent helpers and children all enjoyed their morning of climbing, crawling, sliding, swinging and of course large scale Hide and Seek games!

Flying Start @ Helston Visit The Park!

Flying Start @ Helston have recently made the most of the bright Spring like weather and got out and about on a trip with their toddlers!

The children walked down to their local park, ready to brave muddy puddles and squelchy crossings but instead were met with dry grass and bright blue skies… much to the toddlers delight!

The children had a great time running around, balancing on stepping stones, using the ropes to guide their steps and help them balance and even using slides! Lots of physical exercise wore them out!

Flying Start @ Duchy Tummy Time!

Flying Start @ Duchy have been getting down on their tummies with the babies!

The staff recently have been to some training learning about British Heart Foundation physical development guidelines and NHS advised guidelines for getting babies onto their tummies!

Their are fantastic benefits of tummy time for babies, and the staff will be ensuring their non mobile babies get daily tummy time, exploring on their tummies, strengthening their neck, core and back muscles to use their heads to look around, their arms to start to push up and then encourage movement such as rolling, rocking back and forwards and even crawling!

The little one in the photos here enjoys playing peekaboo with some colourful material, and using her arms to lift and move it around!

Why not try at home and send a photo in to your nursery email so your keyworker can see what your baby has been doing at home too!

Flying Start @ Helston and 115 Easter Walkers!

Flying Start @ Helston and 115 Family, Friends, Children and Staff join in their annual Easter Walk!

Looking for hidden Easter pictures around Penloe Park, everyone had great fun!

They searched high and low, with their wellies and coats on as it was a bit of a wet day, however this did not stop the determination of the little ones in completing the walk in time for a pasty lunch!

Well done all on the turn out, fun had and braving the Cornish rains!

Flying Start @ Duchy Concentrate and are Challenged in the Outdoors!

Flying Start @ Duchy have been challenging their thinking brains all week!

In the outdoors they have been setting up challenging tasks both physically and mentally, encouraging the children to think outside of the box and problem solve to achieve the set outcome.

Physically they have been having to take higher, longer or trickier steps on the balancing stones and create exciting obstacle courses to really push their brains and legs harder!

The children have been very proud of their achievements and after lots of concentration faces big smiles are a welcome expression!

Flying Start @ Duchy’s Daily Forest Outings!

Flying Start @ Duchy have been visiting their forest daily in the last week!

The children have taken their play and learning outside into their beautiful natural surroundings and enjoyed lots of fresh air!

They have been doing as much as possible in the forest including counting, story making, role play and of course nature hunts.

The children even have had their snack in the forest, using their magic soap to clean their hands and kill any outside germs before enjoying their fruity snack!

Flying Start @ Penryn Are Out Whatever The Weather!

Flying Start @ Penryn have experienced so many different weather types in the last few weeks!

The preschool children have created a weather board with Natalie so that they can show what the weather is like and predict if it will change in the day!

The children have had to decide each day what clothing they will need… and there has been quite a variation!

The children have worn sunhats and suncream with the UV sail up in the garden for shade, welly boots and waterproofs for a bear hunt in the muddy puddles and sometimes a mix of a sun hat and welly boots!

The children have been excited to get outside every day and as always the staff endeavour to be outside whatever the weather! Please continue to make sure your child is prepared for all winds and weathers, thankyou!

Flying Start @ Duchy Enjoy The Ball Pool!

Flying Start @ Duchy have introduced a ball pool for their babies!

The babies can sit in the enclosed space surrounded by multicoloured balls to explore.

This sensory play engages, their touch sight and sound senses as well as their movement both gross motor through kicking their legs and fine motor by picking up individual balls as you can see in the picture!

The only problem… the babies don’t want to get out!

Flying Start @ Helston’s Savoury Stay and Bake!

Flying Start @ Helston host a lovely Stay and Bake session for parents, relatives and friends of the nursery as well as some very keen children and staff!

Our lovely cook @ Helston had created a fantastic idea of making fish cakes with the children and parents, which made a lovely change to sweet treats often made!

The children were excited at cooking something so different and used their sight, smell and touch to explore the new foods.

Well done and thankyou to all our  visitors who stayed to bake and thankyou to our main cook and lots of little cooks who created very tasty fish cakes!

Your child @ Helston should have received a recipe card do you can try at home, why not bake and send in a photo so we can all see?
