Flying Start @ Marjon Create Large Scale Art Outdoors!

Flying Start @ Marjon Create Large Scale Art Outdoors!
Following on from the recent whole company training day, Flying Start @ Marjon have been embracing large scale art, focusing on the outdoors and natural materials!

The staff and children have been working together to make patterns with leaves in the forest, as well as using natural resources to make pictures in the hut!

Across all ages they have also been learning about the art of Haba Zome…
They collected flowers, leaves and berries, and then used mallets and hammers to extract the colour out of them onto a sheet to make this amazing large flower design!

The children have been so excited and inspired by this large scale creativity!
What a masterpiece!

The children & staff at Flying Start @ Marjon have been getting to work in their nursery garden, now that the weather is getting more sunny!

The children decided they wanted to add some stepping stones and they chatted about it in circle time…

so they all got their gardening tools out and got digging to lay the stepping stones!

Wow, what a great team effort!

Flying Start @ Marjon Have Local Police Visit!
Flying Start @ Marjon were very lucky to have a visit from their local police force, who came to tell the children all about how they help keep the community safe!
The children were really fascinated and had their best listening ears on!

Then they got to go outside and look at the police car, and even sit in it!
Plus, the children were allowed to dress up in some of the police uniforms & try on their hats too!
Great fun and lots of learning – a huge thank you to the local police force for giving up their time to come & visit the nursery children!

As you can see from the photos, the children were very excited to have a live guitar performance, and couldn’t wait to sing along and join in with the games!

Their favourites were… sleeping bunnies, wheels on the bus, twinkle twinkle, and old mcdonald!

A huge thank you to Chris for this wonderful visit!

Flying Start @ Marjon Visit Local Residential Home!

The children at Flying Start @ Marjon went on a special visit to a local residential home called ‘Down House’ to visit the residents there!

The children had a great time there chatting to the residents, and then exploring play dough, puzzles, balloons, colouring in, playing with animals, and reading stories … wow!

The residents then joined in with singing songs with actions, which the children and residents both really enjoyed!

Flying Start @ Marjon Celebrate Pancake Day!
Happy Pancake Day!

The children & staff at Flying Start @ Marjon  got in the spirit by all making pancakes together for snacktime!
The children helped to mix up the pancake ingredients, and then Sarah safely cooked them in the nursery kitchen with the children getting to watch!

Then they added toppings such as fruit, yoghurt, and honey, and tucked into their delicious pancakes for a very special snacktime!
They look delicious & what a lovely treat for pancake day!

Flying Start @ Marjon’s Chinese New Year Celebrations!

Flying Start @ Marjon’s Get Physical To Celebrate Chinese New Year…

The children enjoyed exploring different activities which focused on their physical skills and Chinese culture

Creating a dragon dance required lots of concentration from the toddlers, trying to stay in a line and all move at the same speed and the same direction! After some practice they added some Chinese Music and of course the required Dragon Head!

Trying to use chop sticks with two hands, one hand and then some spoons! The chop sticks proved very tricky, so after trying hard to pincer with the sticks the children found some spoons for much faster transportation! They also felt the noodles with their fingers… they were very sticky!

Flying Start @ Marjon Share The Love!

Flying Start @ Marjon Celebrate Valentines Day…

Sharing the love was important last week at Flying Start @ Marjon, where the children explored lots of themed activities based on red, hearts and love!

Exploring red paint, the babies painted heart shapes… (as well as their hands, the table and everything red!!)

And the children made love potions! Mixing different liquids and adding in heart shaped confetti before casting their magic spells! Exploring different pouring methods with jugs, tubs, funnels and syringes the children managed to create some very LOVE-ly potions!
