Flying Start Nurseries close for the holidays!
We can now announce that Flying Start Nurseries are closed for the winter holidays!
A huge thank you to our brilliant staff teams across all of our nurseries, for all your hard work and enthusiasm!
We hope all of our children enjoy opening their Christmas presents from Father Christmas on his nursery visits!
We wish you all a very happy holidays, and we will re-open in the New Year on the 2nd January!
Flying Start @ Marjon Invite Parents To Join Festivities!
Over the festive period, the team at Flying Start @ Marjon have been delighted to welcome in parents and families, to join the nursery in lots of fun activities!
The nursery have hosted lots of stay and play sessions for their parents and carers, which have included craft activities, a carol service, and time to explore the nursery play environments with their children!
There has been an amazing turnout of parents and the feedback has all been brilliant about how much the sessions have been a highlight of the festive season!
And the children have been very excited to welcome their parents and families into the nursery… a huge thank you to all who came and took part! Happy holidays to all!
Flying Start @ Marjon Make Magical Forest Potions!
The toddlers & pre-schoolers at Flying Start @ Marjon have been enjoying lots of Forest School adventures, as the seasons change into autumn and winter!
The children have been looking at all the changes in the weather, the leaves, and the colours! They’ve also been collecting lots of leaves and sticks from the forest as treasure…
Back at nursery, they mixed up some magical forest potions in the garden!
They got to use food colouring, spices, and even bubbles, and added their forest treasure too, to make them even more magical, and then they made up some spells…
Great explorative play in the forest!
Flying Start @ Marjon Pre-School Do Science Experiments!
The pre-schoolers at Flying Start @ Marjon have been getting stuck into science club, with some experiments!
In a big group, they tried out a science experiment with bicarbonate soda and vinegar… which cause lots of foaming and fizzing, and an explosion!
They have also had the opportunity to try a smaller version of the experiment out themselves… to make mini explosions!

Flying Start @ Marjon Babies Do Autumn Stick Painting!
The baby department at Flying Start @ Marjon have been exploring making marks!
They went on a walk to the forest and collected some sticks…
Back at nursery, the staff mixed up some paints the same colours as the leaves on the trees!
Then the babies experimented with dipping them into the paint trays and moving them around on the paper, making lots of lovely marks and patterns!
What a lovely autumnal activity!
Flying Start @ Marjon Host Their Own Invictus Games!
The 2018 Invictus Games is a para-sport event for wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans, held in Sydney in Australia.
At Flying Start @ Marjon, the staff were really inspired from watching the Invictus Games on the TV, and decided to host their own Invictus Games in the nursery! This was a great chance for the children to be inspired by the games, and be disability aware.
The events included a hopping race, wheelchair racing and blindfolded hurdles (aided by an adult).
The children and staff had lots of fun, but also found it really tricky… and the children learned about how strong and determined all the veterans competing in the Invictus Games are!

Flying Start @ Marjon Toddlers Explore Autumnal Sensory Play!
The toddlers at Flying Start @ Marjon have been exploring leaves, pinecones and coloured rice in their sensory tray on a lovely autumnal theme!
They have been building, pouring, filling, and exploring textures using this tray and the had lots of fun doing so!
Some of the toddlers also explored the smell of the rice which was scented using spices…
…and then they made some lovely autumnal pictures using sticks as their paintbrushes!

Flying Start @ Marjon Hold Under-3’s Forest School Workshop!
Flying Start @ Marjon held their first ever forest school workshop for under-3’s – welcoming parents and carers to come along and join in!
The toddler and baby parents had great fun exploring in the forest… Trying out a whole range of exiting forest activities including mud kitchen…
….clay faces…
…and even sticky pictures making!
The children also did lots of exploring… looking at what they could find, balancing, and jumping!
The parents all had a great time even if the weather was a little bit damp…
And once they got back to nursery, everybody tucked into a treat of hot chocolate with all the trimmings, and a gingerbread biscuit! What a special way to finish a fantastic day!

Flying Start @ Marjon Host Grandparents Stay & Play!
Flying Start @ Marjon had a lovely day celebrating Grandparents day, by inviting all the babies’ grandparents in to the nursery for a stay & play session!
The grandparents came along and joined in for an afternoon of playing and crafts with their grandchildren, and all of the children…
….before all getting to tuck into an afternoon tea with some delicious tea and cakes!

Flying Start @ Marjon marked World Mental Health Day by exploring emotions!
The pre-school children practised their emotion expressions, using the emotion props… look at these great photos!
Meanwhile the toddlers using special worksheets to help them think about emotions and feelings.
