Flying Start Redruth – Pick Peas

We have been so excited to pick our home grown peas @ Flying Start Redruth!

We have taken such good care of them. It was a bit of a challenge to pop them open and we had fun counting how many peas were hiding inside before eating them.  We all agree they make a delicious snack!

Flying Start @ Redruth Get Cutting

The Toddlers who are transitioning into the pre-school room have been preparing with some scissor safety work! They’ve been learning about how to be safe with the scissors & have been practising by cutting the grass & flowers in our garden. They managed to fill an entire bucket with flowers & clover so created some beautiful artwork after.

Flying Start @ Redruth have been busy making chutney!

Hannah our cook has been teaching us some of her special recipes in cooking club! This week the children made their own mango chutney. The children did everything themselves from peeling the mangos, chopping the onions & measuring out lots of special spices. They even had a go at stirring it on our portable electric hob! They then enjoyed it at snack time with some freshly made orange bread!

Flying Start Preschool @ Redruth have been busy building!

The pre-school children have had their construction hats on this week ! They’ve been extremely creative & have independently constructed their own small world forest. They thought of every detail from building the road into the jungle, the animals & even the plants and foliage. They were super proud of their creation!

Flying Start @ Redruth make their own snack!

The Toddlers had a go at making their own individual bread rolls for snack! They picked some rosemary from the garden to add into their ingredients as well as garlic & sun-dried tomatoes. They all had a turn at mixing the dough & tasty ingredients together before kneading and shaping their own little roll. They were so proud of their creations but with a little bit of butter on they didn’t last long!

Pre School have been so happy to get back to cooking and practising those life skills such as chopping, peeling, and rolling as well as staying safe.

This week we have been busy making cheese and broccoli quiche, which we all agreed tasted delicious. We will be using a different vegetable to cook each week that we could find growing in our garden.
