The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Redruth have been enjoying the warmer spring weather outside, and exploring their new theme this term all about the sea…

The children are particularly excited by pirates and hidden treasure under the sea! So they made their own pirate plank, and have been practising walking the plank in the garden!

 

They have been practising their balancing skills, and working together to help each other across.

They have also been exploring the treasure in their new pirate-themed sensory tray, looking at colour, and counting!

Flying Start Nurseries Host Annual Training Day For Entire Company!

Flying Start Nurseries are proud to have hosted another amazing annual company training day, with over 120 staff attending, from all of our nurseries, in our 25th year of business!

It is a unique chance to bring all of our staff together to celebrate the achievements of the last year, and train them in new and specialist areas to improve & excel even more! The theme of this year’s training day was ‘Lifelong Learning with TLC’, and Flying Start were delighted to host the day at a new venue – at the cinema in Newquay!

We are also delighted to announce that at our company training day, we launched a new online training platform for all our staff, as part of the offer from our training company TLC.

Soon, we will be opening up this training platform to offer some courses to parents & the community too!

Thank you to all of our parents & families for your understanding with the one day nursery closure – it is such a valuable day for our company, and reinforces Flying Start’s mission of ‘lifelong learning’ – for the children, but also for our amazing staff!

Flying Start @ Redruth Pre-School Explore At Beach School!

The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Redruth enjoy weekly forest or beach school trips exploring the natural environment… the children love these opportunities to learn outdoors & have lots of adventures!

This week, the children wrapped up warm & went to the beach where they climbed on the rocks and crossed rivers to get to a cave, which they explored whilst guessing what might live inside!

They also went on a shell hunt looking at different shapes and sizes.

Lots of the staff and children dressed up as their favourite characters from books, and then they spent the day reading lots of their favourite stories!

The pre-school department at Flying Start @ Redruth have been using fun sensory play activities to practise their sounds, and help them progress to forming letters…

The children had fun mixing and making silly soup in the sensory tray!

The silly soup helped them to learn & practise the initial sounds before having lots of opportunities to practise forming letters.

The pre-school department at Flying Start @ Redruth hosted a special superhero and princess themed tea party!

Lots of parents and guardians came in to join the children for lots of fun activities, and the children dressed up as their favourite characters!

Everybody played musical statues, bumps, made some shapes with playdough…

…and then had some delicious tea party food!

After the bout of icy weather, the staff at Flying Start @ Redruth were inspired to put out a new ice & snow themed sensory tray for the children to explore!

The children explored lots of different textures, and lots of things that were blue or white or metallic in colour…

Flying Start @ Redruth Toddlers Visit Local Retirement Home

The toddler department at Flying Start @ Redruth went on a special trip to the ‘Green Retirement Home’ this week to do some colouring and singing with some of the residents!

The residents were pleased to see the children, and there were lots of smiles in the room!

The children really enjoyed their time there and look forward to going back next week!
