Flying Start @ Camborne Are Visited By The RNLI!

Flying Start @ Camborne Learn About Beach Safety With A Visit From The RNLI!
RNLI3
As part of their ‘People Who Help Us’ theme, the children and staff at Flying Start @ Camborne have had more exiting visitors… The RNLI lifeguards!
RNLI4
Georgina and Rachel arrived at nursery in their shiny big beach vehicle, which caused a lot of excitement! They explained to the children all about how important it is to keep safe when we are on the beach, and ways to do this.
The lifeguards were very impressed that the children had already learned what the different coloured flags meant – and then they showed the children the huge flags that are actually used on the beach!

The children also learned that if they get separated  from their Mummy or Daddy, that they should look for the lifeguards who will be dressed in red and yellow – the same colour as the safe flag.
Thank you to Georgina and Rachel from the RNLI, for coming and speaking to the children at Flying Start @ Camborne – they learned lots about beach safety!

Gavin came to talk to the children and brought along lots of exciting medical equipment for the children to play with including bandages, stethoscopes, face breathing masks and huge syringes!

Ambulance 1

He also let the staff and children explore the ambulance – it had a lift that they stood on to get in, and they saw lots of equipment that would help make the patients better on the way to the hospital!

Ambulance 6

Gavin told the children about how he and other paramedics are there to help, and that the children shouldn’t be scared if they ever have to go in an ambulance.

Ambulance 3

Flying Start at Camborne want to give a huge thank you to Gavin for coming all the way down from Wells in Somerset to see them – the children were so excited about the visit, and learned so much from him!

Flying Start @ Camborne Are Visited By The Police!

Flying Start @ Camborne Meet PC Harvey!

The children had a visit this week from PC Shaun Harvey…

P1120007 P1120013

He came to speak to the children about the jobs the police do and that they are kind and approachable police officers who help and look after people.

We want our children to know that Police Officers are helpful and kind and will help to keep them safe… not just catch bad people!

Thankyou to PC Harvey for answering the children’s questions and showing them the car and uniform!

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Show and Share Evening!

Flying Start @ Camborne Share Heuristic Play With Their Families…

The families of the Babies and Toddlers were invited into nursery last week to observe and engage in heuristic play with their children.

P1110990 P1110992 P1110996 P1110997

The staff set up some open plan opportunities for the families, showing how objects could be grouped together for free exploration and investigation…

P1120003 P1120002

Then everyone got really stuck in! Exploring the objects… seeing how they felt, looked, sounded, banged together, shook and even balanced them on their head!

Staff talked to parents and families about how letting the children freely explore it without a specific purpose or reason can help to develop problem solving and creative skills.

Thankyou to all families who joined in!

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Garden Project Progresses!

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Garden is OPEN!

As lots of parents and friends of the nursery will know the big garden has been receiving some much needed TLC recently! The grass seed finally grew, the shed was replaced with a beautiful play house for the children and lots of new equipment was added to the garden!

P1110985

Then the SUN came out! And so did the Children!

P1110938 P1110940

Shelley attended training about developing literacy and numeracy in the garden and this is evident now in lots of places! And all of the staff team are working hard on providing rich and exciting learning opportunities in the garden – this is only going to get better with the lovely weather that we should be getting!
