We have had so much fun making runs for our cars and even made a car catapult!
The children were able to estimate and measure how far the cars had flown and guess whose car would travel the furthest down the ramp. It cause lots of excitement that they then created bigger ramps to experiment with.
Flying Start @ Cornwall College talk Healthy Eating!
This week, the preschool children have been talking about healthy eating, and which foods are good for us, and which foods are good only as a treat. In the activity, they had a plate that was divided down the middle. One side of the plate was healthy, the other side was unhealthy. They had to organise the food onto the correct side of the plate. We spoke about why some foods were good for us, and why some weren’t. Then the children drew a plate of their favourite food.
Flying Start @ Saltash Have Been Getting Stuck Into Woodwork!
The preschool children have been getting stuck into the challenge of woodwork! They have risk assessed the activity with an adult before individually having a go. The children showed concentration as well as determination to use the hammers and screw drivers! Well done!
Flying Start @ Saltash Go Yellow!
For Children’s mental health day the whole days dressed up in yellow and took part in lots of different yellow activities, the preschool children painted pictures of themselves in yellow paint how they were feeling and then talked about what makes them happy!
The toddlers painted yellow pictures of things that make them happy and the babies explored lots of different yellow play.
Then we all enjoyed a yellow lunch!!
Flying Start @ Redruth And Their Fairy Garden!
This week the transitioning toddlers have been very excited by fairies. This week during gardening club they created their very own fairy garden and the hoped a real fairy would visit and leave them a key. They have excitedly been checking on it daily for any signs of a fairy visit.
Flying Start Have Been Celebrating World Mental Health Days In The Happiest Of Ways!
We have been celebrating World Mental Health Day. Preschool have been talking about things that are yellow and how they make us feel. “The sunshine makes us feel warm”. Then they did some gluing and sticking, and enjoyed a yellow snack and lunch. Day nursery also enjoyed eating their yellow foods, and speaking about their emotions. They then made faces out of yellow tissue paper.

The preschool children have been exploring transient art, using natural materials to make pictures. The children studied their faces carefully in the mirror and then created them on the paper using natural materials.

Preschool have worked really hard on a game of pairs, they concentrated really hard to remember where each animal was and then matched them up! Well done!

The babies have been exploring the flowers that they recently planted. They used their senses and felt the texture, talked about the colours and smelt the fragrance!
