Flying Start @ Helston’s Toddlers Bake Biscuits!

The toddlers have been enjoying a regular cooking club where they are developing some really important skills.

They have started to recognise their ingredients, help to measure them, feel the different textures and consistencies and then develop physical skills when mixing, stirring and helping to pour and chop.

Here the children made jam shortbread biscuits!

Stirring, kneading, squeezing and patting the dough together…

Flying Start @ Saltash’s Babies Paint…

Using their hands and fingers to explore the slimy texture and notice the different colours the babies made some beautiful pictures!

Mixing the paint in pots and on their paper, swirling, scratching, dabbing and smearing the paint to make lots of marks!

The children collected sticks and natural objects when on forest school and brought them back to the nursery to enhance their art work…

Using sticks, feathers and even making leaf prints with paint to create really interesting marks and shapes!

Flying Start @ Saltash Experience Different Sensory Play Every Week…

Last week in the toddler room the children were exploring oats!

Their play covered lots of different areas of their learning and as the week progressed their play developed…

From mixing, adding glitter, using spoons to transport into different sized pots, measuring lots of oats and then a little oats, using colanders and of course fingers to feel, lift, sprinkle and touch the oats the toddlers were really engaged in this open ended play!
