Flying Start @ Marjon Pre-School Explore Yoga & Paint!

The pre-school department at Flying Start @ Marjon have not only been practising their yoga… but they’ve been exploring yoga WITH PAINT!

The children got dressed up in their full suits and wellies, and went outdoors in small groups to the nursery garden, to try out yoga with paint!

This was great messy fun, but also an opportunity for the children so see connections between their movements and the marks on the paper, helping them notice patterns!

The toddler and pre-school departments at Flying Start @ Marjon have been getting outdoors, and enjoying the changing seasons as autumn approaches!

 

 

The toddlers have been noticing all the changes on forest school, stamping their feet in the leaves and in in their welly boots!

Then they have been doing some lovely leaf paintings, using big leaves gathered from outdoors… look at their concentration!

 

 

And the pre-school children have even been finding conkers!

 

 

  

 

What great fun and exploring outdoors, as summer becomes autumn!

The babies at Flying Start @ Marjon have been exploring making marks with different objects…

…this week, the babies have been using pinecones!

With some brightly coloured paints, big sheets of paper, and their apron suits on, the babies were ready to go with their large scale art!

They dipped their pinecones – and their hands! – in the paint to create different marks on the paper…

The babies had so much fun exploring the creative activity – and just look at their masterpieces!

The toddlers at Flying Start @ Marjon have been feeling magical… and whipping up their own potions in the garden!

 

The children have been gathering lots of natural items as ingredients for their potions…

 

And the staff have been helping them fill big buckets, which the children have been practising their pouring into, and then all having a go at stirring it all up!

A great summer snack idea… Flying Start @ Marjon made ‘Watermelon Pizza’ with the children!

 

The staff cut up slices of watermelon, and then the children each smeared them with natural yoghurt, and then decorated them with their ‘toppings’ of banana slices, raspberries, grape halves, and even some fresh mint!

The children loved tucking into them at snack time..

What a fun healthy snack, and super refreshing!

The toddlers at Flying Start @ Marjon have been really enjoying playing & pouring in their river sensory tray!

 

The staff set up a brilliant sensory tray complete with water, sand, pebbles, rocks, logs, plants, and much more!

The children have been focusing hard on filling pots with water, and carefully pouring them, as well as making waterways with pipes!

 

 

As you can see from the pictures, the children have been completely immersed in this brilliant activity!

The toddlers at Flying Start @ Marjon have been getting creative, painting with shapes!

 

The nursery staff laid out some bright neon paints on a tray, and then laid out a selection of 3D wooden shapes for the children to explore…

 

 

As well as getting messy with the colourful paints, they were also learning all about shapes!

The toddlers at Flying Start @ Marjon have been making lots of healthy fruit creations for special summer snacks!

Firstly, they made ice pops from fresh fruit… they squeezed oranges for fresh juice, and cut up other fruits…

 

 

And then with help from the nursery staff, they carefully poured it into ice lolly moulds, and they were taken off to be frozen!

 

 

Continuing the fruity fun, the toddlers have also had a go at making smoothies!

They cut up fruit with the help of the nursery staff, filled their bowls, and then whizzed it into a smoothie using a special blender!

 

Then they drank the delicious healthy smoothies as a special snack… yum!

 

 

Such exciting ways to explore and enjoy fruit!

Flying Start Managers & Team Leaders Attend Annual Away Day!

 

At Flying Start, we pride ourselves on offering our staff extensive development opportunities. And one of the highlights of the calendar for our Managers and Team Leaders, is our Annual Away Day!

 

 

The Managers and Team Leaders from our nurseries across Cornwall and Plymouth came together for a day themed around ‘Healthy Workplace’.

 

 

 

They took part in a morning of workshop sessions that included developing 5 year forward plans, and innovative training sessions led by the Senior Team.

 

The staff will take their new learning back to their staff, to cascade to all of our nursery teams!

 

 

In the afternoon, it was time to head outside onto the beach and get active in the fresh air – an essential part of the Healthy Workplace initiative! They kicked off with a problem solving activity that demanded communication and lots of teamwork…

 

…And then enjoyed games of rounders and volleyball in teams! There was lots of encouragement, and lots of fun had by all!

 

 

They finished the day with a good old game of Tug Of War!

 

 

A huge thanks to the Senior Team for organising such a brilliant Away Day, and to all our Managers & Team Leaders for attending with such enthusiasm as always!
