Flying Start @ Marjon Pre-School Explore In The Forest!
The pre-schoolers at Flying Start @ Marjon have been on a forest adventure, to explore different sizes…
They have been collecting different sized sticks and comparing them … they found one really big stick that was even bigger than Kate!
They managed to find circles, squares, rectangles and diamonds! Wow. Great work guys!
Flying Start @ Marjon Toddlers Plant Seeds!
The toddlers at Flying Start @ Marjon have been busy doing some gardening!
They have been planting different flower seeds into little pots, after measuring out the soil…
And getting the seeds out of the packets, and sprinkling them carefully in the soil.
The nursery nurses chatted to children about what plants need to grow…
…and the children put sticks with their names on in their plant so they can watch how it grows!
When they have turned into beautiful flowers, the children will take them home to show their families!

Flying Start @ Marjon Toddlers Enjoy Cooking Club!
The toddlers at Flying Start @ Marjon have been really enjoying their cooking club, where they’ve been baking some special treats…
In their book ‘Postman Bear’, bear makes a birthday cake for him and his friends so the toddler department decided to bake their own cupcakes and they also made rice crispy cakes!
The children have been carefully mixing up all the ingredients, and taking it in turns to do lots of strong stirring!
They even put the mixture into the bun cases… And the staff helpfully took them to the oven.
And of course the best bit – they all got to take their delicious treats home to enjoy!
Flying Start @ Marjon Babies Celebrate Chinese New Year!
The baby department at Flying Start @ Marjon have been getting stuck into activities to celebrate & explore Chinese New Year!
The babies have been exploring noodles and chopsticks through sensory play and exploring the slippery texture… then the children got to try eating noodles at snack time! They were very popular and the children thought they were yummy!
Then they got messy… they created a Chinese Dragon through feet painting using red and yellow paint! The children loved getting messy and created a fantastic dragon!

Flying Start @ Marjon Pre-School Enjoy A Yoga Session !
This week preschool at Flying Start @ Marjon have tried out some yoga for gym club!
The staff placed mats on the floor of the garden and the children were very excited to try out their yoga session outdoors!
They began by taking their shoes off, and talking about their golden rules including using their kind hands and listening ears.
A member of staff demonstrated how to do the yoga poses as well as showing the children some helpful picture cards of what they look like.
The children did so well making these amazing shapes, and had lots of fun – and lots of hard concentrating too!
Yoga is great for developing core muscles, balance and concentration – well done Marjon pre-schoolers!
Flying Start @ Marjon Celebrate Valentine’s Day With Crafts!
The pre-school children have been celebrating Valentine’s Day at nursery, by hand-making cards and pictures themed around lovehearts!
The children have all had fun making beautiful cards and artworks, with lots of hearts on them.
They’ve done lots of gluing and sticking, and been talking all about who they love like their friends and family!
Just look at that amazing concentration!
Flying Start @ Marjon Pre-School Meet The Police!
The theme for this term in the pre-school department at Flying Start @ Marjon, is people who help us… So a very special visit was arranged for the children, with a police officer, who came to visit the preschool room!
The children really enjoyed meeting her and talking to her about keeping safe. They even had a go at having their fingerprints done using ink!
They also enjoyed trying on police hats & jackets…
and being able to explore and sit inside the police car!!
A huge thank you to the local police, for this wonderful and informative visit to see the children.
Flying Start @ Marjon Babies Explore & Learn With Transporting!
The babies have been exploring transporting things using cups and bowls… they’ve been transporting dry pasta from bowl to another, and transporting using sand too!
The babies have really enjoyed this play – look at their curiosity in these photos!
They’ve also been exploring enveloping, rotating, and hanging things up using scarves, bracelets, and various other objects.

Flying Start @ Marjon Toddlers Do An Obstacle Course!
The toddlers at Flying Start @ Marjon have been exploring risky play in the garden – by attempting to get all the way round and obstacle course that they made from planks of wood, tyres and boxes!
They walked along the balancing beam really carefully, with support when they needed it, but really trying to do it themselves & develop their independence!
They also talked about how to keep ourselves safe taking in turns, one at a time.
