The children and staff at Flying Start @ Marjon have been taking part in gardening workshops, and getting their hands dirty!!
They’ve been laying out new soil, using their watering cans, and planting new seeds in their special gardening patches!
It is great to get outside not just for fresh air, but also to enjoy the calming activity of gardening, which the children love!

Today is Flying Start’s 24th birthday!!!
Across all of our nurseries, we are celebrating Flora’s (our little girl with a kite on our logo!) birthday, with birthday cake and lots of party games!
A huge thank you to all of the children, parents, families, and staff who have been a part of Flying Start over the last 24 years… We have seen different generations and whole families come through the nurseries, and hundreds of children given a Flying Start to Lifelong Learning!
As well as our loyal amazing staff – some who have been with us for many many years – who help make those Flying Starts happen!
Thank you all & here is to many more brilliant years!
The very friendly staff were delighted to see the children & say Hello!

Flying Start Annual Staff Training Day!
Thank you to all of our parents for your patience with the annual staff training day on Monday 27th March – as a company, we really value the opportunity to bring all of our staff together & develop new skills as childcare professionals!
Take a look at these great photos of all of our wonderful staff competing in the ‘Grand Team Challenge’ on the astroturf!
It was hotly contested by Marjon and Redruth staff teams, but in the end the Cornwall College team were victorious!!!
Some of our staff did training workshops on Forest School and outdoor learning… this is something we’re really passionate about at Flying Start!
Another great highlight from our annual company Training Day, was ‘The Tinkering Workshop’ where staff were introduced to new award-winning woodwork kits for young children!!
The creators of the product came all the way to our training day to give the workshops, and teach staff how to use these great new kits… Our staff are now all very excited to roll this out with the children across our nurseries!!
Our cooks from every nursery were challenged to make a cream tea for over 100 members of staff… and excelled with a huge delicious spread!!
And at the end of the day, we had our much awaited annual awards…
Congratulations to FLYING START @ CORNWALL COLLEGE for winning TEAM OF THE YEAR!!!
Thank you to all our staff for their enthusiasm and dedication to constantly improving their skillsets as education professionals, and thank you to all of our parents for their patience with our nursery closure!
