Flying Start @ Redruth Climbing

Look at our fantastic climbing skills! In the garden the children have been enjoying participating in risky play. Climbing the tyres has enabled the children to risk assess their own abilities and challenge themselves to see if they can achieve their goals. This activity has promoted the children’s independence, self-resilience and problem solving so much that it is now a permanent activity in our garden!

Flying Start @ Redruth Bug Hotel

The children @ Flying Start Redruth have been busy building a bug hotel this week! They have been searching for items in our garden to add to the hotel & have been keeping a close eye to see if any bugs have moved in. This weekend we are challenging the children and their families to find some more items on their walks & outings to bring into nursery to add to our bug hotel!

Flying Start @ Redruth Cutting

The Toddlers in day nursery @ Flying Start Redruth have been working on developing their cutting skills this week! Using a variety of different flowers donated from a local farm, they chopped, snipped & cut the flowers whilst comparing the size.

Flying Start @ Redruth Cooking Club

Pre-school have had a very exciting cooking club this week! For weeks & weeks they have been patiently waiting for their ‘Pak Choi’ to grow and today they finally harvested it. They did some research and looked at images of tasty meals containing Pak Choi & decided that the noodles looked the most delicious. After picking the Pak Choi they grated & diced lots of other vegetables and began to fry it all together with some noodles & spices on the electric hob! The whole nursery then enjoyed the noodles for their afternoon snack!

Flying Start @ Redruth Improve Physical Development

The Day Nursery children @ Flying Start Redruth were keen to investigate the construction area in the garden! They were able to construct different ball runs using a selection of piping and guttering as well as problem solving when the balls became stuck. The children also helped to create an obstacle course and were very brave whilst independently completing it! They could climb, crawl, step in & out, which is a great way to support their physical development.

Flying Start @ Redruth Caterpillars

In their curiosity cube the pre-schoolers have been observing some caterpillar’s that a child kindly bought in for us! They have been learning about a life cycle of a butterfly and reading the ‘crunching munching caterpillar’ book.

Flying Start @ Redruth Get Muddy

The babies have been enjoying exploring some messy farmyard sensory & small world! They were able to investigate the textures and smells of potted herbs whilst listening to and joining in with animal songs like ‘Old McDonald’.

Flying Start @ Redruth Explore Transporting Opportunities

This week we have been providing opportunities for the children to explore their transporting schema whist following their interests of potion making and water play. Day Nursery enjoyed being able to transport water from different levels whilst observing the effects of mixing the coloured water together.

Flying Start @ Redruth Get Busy Building

The children have been so busy building a car track that went around the whole room, they used their imaginations and went underground, which was under the tables and through the tunnels in the role play area, using wonderful descriptive language.

The children focused for such a long period and managed to safely get 26 cars across and managed to count them all themselves!
