Today on our walk to the Library we bumped into two Police Officers! The Day Nursery children were intrigued with what they were doing & the uniform they were wearing. The Police Officers kindly took their time to speak to the children & even gave them a special sticker which the children were VERY excited about. We hope to have a PCSO into nursery for a visit soon!
This week the Children & Staff have been learning all about & celebrating Chinese New Year! We have learnt something new & tasted something different every day this week. The Day Nursery children have made their own pineapple tarts to symbolise Prosperity. The Pre-School children have made their own traditional Chinese noodle dish to take home & share with their families! The children have been making their own Rabbit & Dragon crafts to celebrate the year of the Rabbit. Using their amazing crafts, the Pre-School children also preformed a special Chinese Dragon dance for the babies in Day Nursery! We can’t wait to continue our celebrations & learning this week.
If your child is a Toddler or Pre-schooler at one of our Flying Start settings, they will be coming home with their new challenge for the term! Please get involved, when completed there will be a certificate ceremony and a small prize!

The lucky children at Redruth had a surprise when they arrived at nursery today, see how happy they were in the snowy garden.
This week Preschool have been working on their fine motor skills. We used pinecones and plate stands to thread and weave the ribbon round and round or in and out. The children also used scissors to cut off their ribbon. Well done Preschool.
After a busy first week back after the Christmas break, Day Nursery have been spending lots of time exploring familiar stories in the forest. They have been reading woodland themed stories & the children have been so engaged whilst listening to them in the fresh air. After reading ‘Room on the broom’ the toddlers went on a hunt around the garden to look for twigs & pinecones to add to their own cauldrons.
The babies at Flying Start Redruth have been getting curious about Christmas. We’ve had an exciting week of fun and games with lights, reindeer food and Christmas themed heuristic play.
We’ve had a very exciting festive week @ Flying Start Redruth! On Wednesday we had a Christmas party full of lots of exciting Christmas activities, games & a tasty party lunch. Santa even delivered us a special parcel of presents! Hannah also cooked us an amazing Christmas dinner feast that the children and staff all enjoyed together.

All the children at Redruth took part in Thanksgiving celebrations today. We enjoyed a delicious roast dinner, both rooms made puddings to share, and we spent the day creating crafty turkeys and talking about what we are thankful for.

For children in need this week we have been making Pudsey bear masks! We used sponges to paint the paper plates before letting them dry and colouring on the bandana and cutting out the eye!
We have also been making Pudsey bookmarks for our reading challenge and Pudsey listening ears! We have used these to go out into the garden to listen to what we can hear.
In addition to this we’ve made Pudsey short bread biscuits and painted Pudsey, using cotton buds to paint the spots onto his bandana.
