Flying Start @ Redruth’s Baby and Toddler Snow Exploration
The toddlers and babies also investigated the snow !
The children really enjoyed creating “snow castles” and learned about how some people in the world do sleep in ‘snow castles’ but their called igloos.
When their fingers got too cold, the children used sticks and spoons … listening to the noises it made, and filling up cups to make their castles. Back to the jungle theme when the snow stops!
Flying Start @ Redruth Use The Snow in Their Science!
Taking full advantage of the snow, after playing, stomping, touching and maybe throwing a little of the snow the children in Redruth’s preschool department used the snow they collected from the garden in their science experiments!
After collecting the snow they felt its texture and temperature, feeling the differences between the sheets of ice they had and the snow powder.
Some children made snow castles, which we then learnt were called igloos… making little houses for our snow people!
We then added salt to the ice to explore what happened… predicting the results and then seeing how it dissolved!
Flying Start @ Redruth are exploring a Jungle theme!
The babies have been very busy exploring messy play, colours, animal printers and safari themed sensory in their jungle theme this half term…
Developing their fine motor skills whilst enjoying getting messy!
In other activities they have splashed in green sparkly water, spent time in their safari den and been exploring different textures and materials.
Flying Start @ Redruth Pre-School Explore Transport Theme!
The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Redruth have been busy outdoors exploring their new theme of transport and using their imaginations!
They have been busy making their own car wash in the nursery garden…
They’ve been parking up their bikes in the coloured spaces and washing them with their sponges!
They have also used the large construction pieces and great teamwork to make their own trains and tractors!
They went on some wonderful journeys using their imaginations!
Flying Start @ Redruth Make Healthy Cereal Bars!
The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Redruth have been enjoying some cooking club fun, and creating some delicious healthy snacks!
The children all had a go at making their very own healthy apricot and banana cereal bars for their afternoon snack this week!
They demonstrated lots of skills with cutting, making and pressing them into cereal bar shapes.
And when it was time to tuck in, all of the children agreed they were delicious! Great work Redruth, exploring some exciting ways to have healthy snacks!
Flying Start @ Redruth Pre-School Explore New Transport Theme!
The preschool children at Flying Start @ Redruth have been busy setting up their new learning environment ready for their new term… they will be learning all about different modes of transport!
The children, with the help of their key workers, have made their very own train and ticket office!
And they have been having great fun taking turns to drive the train as the conductor, and be on the train as passengers… They have already sped off to the beach and on holiday!
All aboard!

The nurseries are now all re-opened as of today (2nd January) for 2019 and are looking forward to welcoming all of the children & their families back!

We hope all of our children enjoy opening their Christmas presents from Father Christmas on his nursery visits!

Flying Start @ Redruth Learn About Swedish Festival of Santa Lucia!
The children at Flying Start @ Redruth haven’t just been thinking about how we celebrate the Christmas holidays here in England… but have been busy learning about Santa Lucia which is a festival celebrated in Sweden!
The children learned all about the Santa Lucia traditions, and then had ago themselves! They made their very own candle crowns to wear…
Then they made their own ginger biscuits and iced them…
And then had a delicious snack based on the festival, enjoying their homemade ginger biscuits, and some saffron buns – which are both celebration foods enjoyed in Sweden!
What an amazing festival to learn about and celebrate, all the way from Sweden!
Flying Start @ Redruth Have A Festive Party With Father Christmas!
The children at Flying Start @ Redruth had their Christmas Party day, where they all dressed up in their festive best!
The nursery staff had created a beautiful grotto for Father Christmas with a sleigh…
…and the children were very excited when Father Christmas himself popped in for a visit!
The children all received lovely presents from Father Christmas and did some singing with him in his little grotto!
Lots of parents came along too, and the children & parents all did some lovely craft activities… lots of the children gave their pictures to Father Christmas as a thank you!
The children then partied until lunch time playing lots of games including ‘Pin the nose on the Snowman’, pass the parcel, and musical statues!
They ended the morning with a delicious party lunch…wow, what a lot of festive fun!
