Flying Start @ Redruth Explore Gingerbread Man Story!

The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Redruth have been busy learning about the story of the gingerbread man this week, after expressing an interest in it last week…

They have been reading the story altogether and using instruments to add sound effects throughout, especially through the running away parts!

They also did a fun activity painting their feet and running along paper to see what patterns their foot prints make whilst running!

This brought up lots of discussion about who was fastest and the size of their feet!

Finally, the children made their very own gingerbread men,  rolling them out and using special shape cutters…

…and these gingerbread thankfully did not run away!

Flying Start @ Redruth Go On A Forest School Adventure!

The pre-school department at Flying Start @ Redruth have started back up their regular forest school trips, to enhance learning and get outdoors!

They started their trip to the forest by learning about their safety rules of how to stay safe in the woods, before enjoying a wet morning splashing in muddy puddles in their wellie boots!

They went on a trail looking at the different habitats for each animal… they found holes on tree trunks where owls might live, and rabbit holes…

…and a special tunnel made of branches that the children thought the Gruffalo may live in!

What a great forest school session exploring and learning!

Flying Start @ Redruth Get Imaginative With Loose Parts Play!

The day nursery children at Flying Start @ Redruth have been letting their imaginations run wild with an open-ended loose parts activity!

The children set up this activity and choose what loose parts to incorporate into their play…

They created houses for their farm animals, swimming pools and even a park…wow!

Great play, imagining, and building!

Flying Start @ Redruth Day Nursery Explore Their Story Theme!

The children in the day nursery at Flying Start @ Redruth are settling into the new term and their new theme of the ‘A Squash and a Squeeze’ storybook!

The children have been exploring farm animals, set up in the sensory tray…

… and looking at different types of houses, and doing lots of colouring in!

Flying Start @ Redruth Pick Apples & Make Apple Pie!

They also made their very own apple pies… the children helped to make their own pastry, cutting out the pie shapes themselves before scooping on the delicious apple mixture and adding its own lid.

One the staff had taken them away to cook and cool… the children of course got to tuck in for a very special snack, and to enjoy all their hard work – delicious!

From garden to table… great work, Redruth nursery!
