Flying Start @ Redruth Pre-School Do Outdoors Challenge!
The Pre-School department at Flying Start @ Redruth have been recently exploring the theme ‘people who help us’… The children observed the road workers across from the nursery, and they had a think about how they were helping by building safe roads for them to get to nursery!
They decided they would like to lay their own road!! So the staff set the challenge of making a road the whole way across the garden out of crates, tyres and wooden planks in order to transport themselves across it without touching the floor.

They did a brilliant job at setting up a huge road, and then all had lots of fun trying to get across without falling off or touching the floor!

The children in the Day Nursery at Flying Start @ Redruth have been exploring the theme of ‘moving’, whilst reading the old favourite storybook ‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt!’ which the children love to read out loud and join in with all the noises!

They have been further exploring the story by re-creating their very own bear hunt on the decking! The staff set up some different stages with all different textures, and the children have been moving their teddy bears in a variety of ways through the parts of the story, exploring the different textures!!

Flying Start @ Redruth Visit The Post Office & Sorting Depot!
The pre-school department at Flying Start @ Redruth are exploring the topic ‘People Who Help Us’. As part of this theme, the children and staff went on a special trip into Redruth to visit the post office and then the sorting depot!

With the help of the staff, the children posted a parcel in the post office which they weighed first, and then counted out their money for…

Then they all went to the post sorting depot, where a helpful guide called Mr. Barnes gave them a special tour! He talked to the children about how the mail comes into the depot in sacks based on the area its going to and they sort it into each houses individual slot on the shelf before going out for delivery by the postman…

Mr Barnes even showed Rufus the post that was going to his house!

The children drew pictures and wrote their names on pieces of paper, which they put into an envelope with a stamp on and wrote nurseries address…

On the walk back to nursery they posted their letter. They are all excited to see how long it takes to be delivered!

The children at Flying Start @ Redruth have been exploring Chinese culture and food, by making spring rolls and amazing dragon masks, in celebration of Chinese New Year!

The children have all had a go at making some delicious spring rolls! The staff mixed up the filling in the kitchen, and then all of the children had a go at spooning it onto the thin pastry, and rolling it up into the special shape!

The staff baked the spring rolls in the oven, and then all enjoyed tucking into their delicious creations!

The children have been learning all about how 2017 is the Year Of The Rooster, and making lots of crafts that are Chinese New Year themed! They have been colouring in these dragon mask templates, and then carefully cutting them out…

The children at Flying Start @ Redruth have been carefully writing and making beautiful letters to Santa, which they’ve been posting in their special Christmas postbox…

Flying Start @ Redruth have been exploring the autumn season through lots of sensory play…

The children have been touching and looking at lots of different types of leaves, noticing their texture and the noises they make, and all the different colours!

Flying Start @ Redruth have introduced a daily dose of Yoga for the children, into their daily routine!

The staff have been doing some basic stretches with the children, and chatting all about how important exercising and looking after yourself and being healthy is.

The children always have a cup of water after their yoga session too, as they know the importance of keeping hydrated… And all that yoga is thirsty work!

Flying Start @ Redruth Have A Hula-Hooping Masterclass!

The pre-schoolers at Flying Start @ Redruth have had a special visit from a professional hula-hooper! She came to teach the children some moves, and she chatted with the children about the importance of staying active and healthy!

Christmas Event @ Duchy College Rosewarne, Sunday 11th December!

Our partners at Duchy College Rosewarne are hosting a fantastic christmas event – and the invitation is warmly extended to all our parents & children!

The event is aimed at families and will have fun activities for little ones including Christmas themed ‘make your own’ craft stations, a chance to see Santa and a small animal petting area!

Bring the whole family along and enjoy festive treats at Duchy College Rosewarne on Sunday 11th December, from 1pm – 5pm. There is also a children’s fancy dress competition, so come along in your most seasonal costume! Santa will be around to hear what you would like for Christmas.

There will also be an opportunity to buy local handmade gifts and see the live animal nativity! If after all this excitement you’re worked up an appetite why not enjoy a tasty hog roast and other Christmas treats…. Delicious!

This event is FREE, so we hope to see lots of you there for some festive cheer!
