Flying Start @ Redruth Enjoy Exploring New Balancing Equipment!
Flying Start @ Redruth are enjoying having new balancing equipment in their garden… and have been exploring it lots!
The children have been practising walking across the planks and finding their balance on top of the logs!
The children and staff have been safely building obstacle courses together, which they then take in turns to try and complete and practice their balancing skills!

The day nursery at Flying Start @ Redruth have been enjoying the new season, and doing lots of autumnal activities!
The children and staff have been out in the garden looking at the beautiful leaves, and collecting some of the ones that had blown from the trees…
They added them to their sensory tray so that they could continue to explore them, and they talked all about their colours and the crunchy noises they make!
They also used the leaves on their craft tables, where they made crayon rubbings of them… Look at these wonderful photographs of the children exploring & creating!

Flying Start @ Redruth have been enjoying the fruits of their harvest, and doing the entire soil to table process in their own nursery! This week, they harvested the potatoes they have been growing in their own garden, which were finally ready to be eaten!
The children were supervised to use a variety of tools to wash and chop the potatoes, and getting them ready to eat… Look at that concentration!
This also inspired lots of great conversations about healthy eating choices!

Flying Start @ Redruth have been exploring their local environment through small world play…
After one of their children recently went on a journey to Truro at the weekend, he shared with the other children how he went on a bus and then a train! He told all the children about all the different things he saw, and from that, they created a tuff spot train journey!

Flying Start @ Redruth Celebrate ‘World Mental Health Day’ By Exploring Emotions!
Flying Start @ Redruth enjoyed a busy day full of activities focusing on their feelings and emotions, for World Mental Health Day!
The children explored their emotions by using mirrors to try out making faces that they might make when they are feeling happy, sad, excited or angry, and to match the feelings to the expressions!
The nursery staff also held a stay and play session in the children’s centre, where they invited parents to enjoy some cake and coffee, and for an opportuning to ‘take 10’ to relax and discuss their emotional wellbeing.
Staff, parents and children all talked about the things that make them happy, and made an emotions collage! When talking about what makes us happy, even their youngest contributor joined in, using Makaton to sign ‘birds’!

Flying Start @ Redruth have been focusing on the theme of at home, and as part of this, have been talking all about pets and animals who live at home…
One child talked all about a hedgehog that lives in her garden… which inspired them to make their own hedgehogs from play-dough – with their very own spikes!
Whilst creating a small army of hedgehogs, they chatted about why they aren’t cuddly like cats and dogs…
Just look how fantastic the finished hedgehogs look!

Flying Start @ Redruth Are Visited By The RNLI!
The Pre-School at Flying Start @ Redruth have been learning all about beaches and staying safe… so they were very excited to receive a visit by the RNLI to the nursery!
The children learned all about the RNLI and its history, and what they do to help people stay safe on the beach – which the children agreed was a very very important job! They looked at lots of great pictures, and asked lots of questions…
And then, the children got to try it out for themselves and dress up in the RNLI uniform and kit!!
