Flying Start @ Redruth Celebrate Flora’s 30th Birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FLORA

The children @ Flying Start Redruth and their families had an afternoon of party fun in the garden to celebrate Floras 30th Birthday 😊!

Thank you to all our wonderful families who have supported us over the last 3 decades!

Flying Start @ Redruth Make Crowns

The Day Nursery children at Flying Start Redruth have been busy making crowns both at home and at nursery 😊 just look at the wonderful, natural and recycled resources used!

We can’t wait to party in our crowns next week on Flora’s 30th birthday and in honour of the Kings Coronation.

Flying Start @ Redruth Grow Caterpillars

Look at these amazing grass Caterpillars our pre-schoolers @ Flying Start Redruth have made this week! All our planters in the garden are filled with herbs & vegetables but because of how much the children have loved gardening we had to think of some creative ways to get growing. Using elastic bands & pipe cleaners to form the caterpillar bodies was a great way to practice fine motor skills too! We can’t wait to see what the Caterpillars look like when the grass starts to grow.

Flying Start @ Redruth Make Bread

At Flying Start Redruth we have been foraging in our garden for some ingredients to add to our bread rolls! There’s lots of dandelions growing in our grass so before the grass is cut, we wanted to use them in our cooking clubs. The children picked lots of dandelions then dissected the flower to put the petals into their bread roll mixture. With the leftover dandelions the children made some beautiful artwork to take home. The bread rolls were so delicious & were a lovely yellow colour!

Flying Start @ Redruth Library Trip

Last week the Day Nursery children @ Flying Start Redruth went to visit the local Library. Two Preschool children went with them armed with a tally chart so they could collect information about what they saw on their journey. When they got to the miner statues in town, Megan talked about what they did for work and what they mined for. Whilst in the Library the children used a lot of their literacy skills by listening to stories and mark making.

Flying Start @ Redruth Celebrate Mother’s Day

This morning we had a Mother’s Day Breakfast! We invited all Mummy’s & Special Ladies dropping into nursery to have a tasty treat & a hot drink to takeaway, as well as some beautiful Daffodils. This was a special thank you from us & the children to recognise how important & amazing they all are.

Flying Start @ Redruth Celebrate St Piran’s Day

We had a very Cornish day at nursery on Monday, in honour of St Piran’s Day. We’ve been exploring Cornish tales such as the mermaid of Zennor & the giant of St Michael’s mount. We made delicious pasty’s & scone’s for our Cornish high tea, complete with some Cornish crowns & bunting. Don’t worry we had Jam on first!

Flying Start @ Redruth Celebrate World Book Day

To celebrate World Book Day 2023 the whole nursery @ Flying Start Redruth has been joining in with sharing our love of books! Day Nursery went on an outing to Kresen Kernow to explore some Cornish books in the library & Pre-School have been having a go at making their own books too! There’s been so many lovely meaningful activities & opportunities for the children to explore books, songs, and rhymes all day long. We’ve enjoyed rea ding lots of the children’s books that they’ve bought in from home. Pre-school have also been reading a very special Polish book that a parent has kindly translated for us to read together!

Flying Start @ Redruth Build A Train Track

Today in the pre-school room we have built a train track on the wall & window in our small-world area! The children helped us to build the track by finding straight & bendy track pieces and helping us use Velcro to get them to stick. Having the train track up on the wall vertically has encouraged the children to use their core muscles by bending, crouching & stretching. The train track has been a big hit today!

Flying Start @ Redruth Physical Development

The pre-school department are focusing on the children’s physical development this half term & the children have been having lots of opportunities to advance their fine motor skills. Today the children have been painting car tyres which allowed them to paint on different textures & angles to develop their wrist extension. The children have also been exploring fine motor skill sand activities whilst sat on the floor, which encouraged them to stretch & reach – utilising their core muscles!
