Flying Start @ Duchy’s talking activities lead to blowing bubbles!

The children take part in daily talking toddler activities every day which are focusing on developing listening, attention, speaking, sounds etc! 

This week the children were blowing bubbles, using their mouths and controlling their breath and then focusing on the bubbles as they floated away!

Flying Start @ Duchy’s Baby Department have been exploring their Sensory Box…

The children opened the big box, and found lots of different items that triggered different senses.

There were noisy foil blankets that the babies rolled in and the younger babies enjoyed some tummy time on hearing the crinkly when their arms and legs moved.

There were also lots of different textured balls, smooth and shiny, spikey and bumpy, and of different colours.

The children explored lots of different objects being encouraged to listen, look and touch.

Flying Start @ Helston have had a Stay and Play Pasty Session!

The children invited their parents and relatives into the nursery to play and then to bake pasties together, celebrating St Pirans Day and all things Cornish!

The parents helpful hands helped the children knead and roll the pastry, then fill up their pasties ready to bake!

Flying Start @ Penryn’s World Book Day Dress Up and Pasty Baking!

Flying Start @ Penryn had a fantastic day for World Book Day!

With the children and staff dressing up, lots of story reading, acting and developing story corners with props the staff and children even made the paper… look out in The Falmouth Packet this week!

Then as it was also St Pirans Day, the children tasted yummy Saffron Buns for snack time and baked their own Cornish Pasties!

Flying Start @ Saltash Limber Up!

Flying Start @ Saltash have been getting fit and healthy in preschool!

The children are doing a weekly gym club with Jade.

This involved warming up, stretching, joining in some planned activities focusing on learning fundamental movements like: balancing, jumping, running, rolling and throwing.

Then the children always make sure they cool down and stretch their muscles, during gym club they talk with Jade about the changes they can observe in their bodies like their heart beat getting faster and feeling hotter!

Flying Start @ Duchy have celebrated World Book Day and St Pirans Day… both on the 5th of March!

Lots of the children dressed up as their favourite book character, and brought in their favourite book to share with their friends.

The children had visits from some College students to come over and be their Reading Buddy also…and they were also dressed up!

Then as it was St Pirans Day as well….

The children and the College students made St.Pirans Flags and talked about Cornwall Heritage! 

Thankyou so much to the Duchy College Students who were a fantastic help on a busy day, but also great to have some exciting visitors!

Flying Start @ Duchy have some Spring Time Special Arrivals….

Baby Lambs have been born! 

They are new on the farm, and the children have been awaiting their arrival and this week got to visit them!

The children could see the lambs, notice their little features and compare these to the larger Mummy and Daddy Sheep! 

They noticed they had little jackets on, and were told this is to keep them warm in the weather as they are still new and don’t have a big warm coat yet… the children were wearing their coats and so were the lambs! 

What an exciting find right on the nursery door step… now there is going to be lots of learning about new life and life cycles! 

Flying Start @ Saltash Find Nature….

Flying Start @ Saltash have been bug hunting!

The children have been wrapping up warm and getting outside lots in the dry, cold weather.

They have been looking out of the window to find out what the weather is like and then matching the clothes they need to stay nice and warm and dry…

The children have been playing in the nursery garden and going out on walks on campus and locally in the community.

Here they used magnifying glasses to see what they could find, inspecting leaves, lifting logs, digging in the mud and searching for some insects and bugs!

In the warm the babies didn’t miss out… as you can see they found the fish!
